Asia, the world's largest continent, is named after the word 'Assyrian' or 'Asu' The eastern province of the great Roman Empire was named Assyrian, after which the continent was named 'Asia'.

Asia: In the past, the Romans used to refer to Asia as two provinces. Firstly Asia Minor, secondly Asia Major. The word Asia was used by Herodotus in his book Hystros in 440 BC. Although then he meant the territory east of the Aegean Sea with this word. The word Asia comes from the ancient Greek word ‘Aσία’. And at the root of this Greek word is the Finnish word ‘asu’, meaning east, and the Akkadian word ‘asuÕ’, meaning the rising of the sun. As such, Asia means the land of the rising sun.
