A thermocouple is a system of two different metal wires whose one end is welded to form a closed circuit and whose free ends are connected to a pointing tool.
The thermocouple is widely used in science and industry. Applications include temperature measurement of factory, gas turbine exhaust, diesel engine and other industrial processes. Thermocouples are also used as heat sensors in homes, offices and businesses, and as flame sensors in gas-powered safety devices.
