Why can't people sleep standing up?

The main purpose of sleeping is to rest the body and sleeping while standing does not give the body enough rest. Many people are seen sleeping while sitting but it is difficult to sleep standing up. REM sleep is relatively harder than standing up and sleeping due to the loss of muscle tone during sleep. Other animals can sleep standing up if they want to. For example, horses, for their tendon and ligament systems, can easily lock the joints of the feet where they sleep. This is not possible for humans. Moreover, flamingos can be seen sleeping on one leg. If Sleep Disorder occurs in people, they can sleep standing up. It is mainly seen in those who have the habit of walking in their sleep. Normally, if a person sleeps all night, waking up in the morning will put pressure on his spine, which can cause pain in different parts of the body after waking up.
