Benzene is colorless, but why are carrots orange?

Cannabis contains excessive amounts of beta carotene, while the relatively low presence of a pigment called anthocyanin makes oranges turn orange.

But at first, there was no color of ganja. The reason for the origin of orange carrots from purple or yellow carrots is more political than scientific. The Romans built a city called Arausio in southern France. The city of Arausio was pronounced "Aurenja". Most likely, it is the origin of the word "orange". Later, when William the Silent came from Nassau in 1544 and took over the reins, he was given the title of William of Orange. Under his leadership, Dutch power emerged against the Spaniards in the late 1500s and an independent Dutch republic was established.

From that time the Dutch were known for cultivating carrots. But initially yellow and purple carrots were cultivated. Incidentally, in the seventeenth century, hybrid breeding produced a new carrot strain that contained large amounts of beta carotene and eventually turned orange. But with the origin of this carrot, in honor of William of Orange, the Dutch began to cultivate it in large quantities and spread it all over the world in such a way that the strains of other carrots became extinct. And then the rest is history.
